Parks in Sandy

 

Sandy is incredibly proud of its parks system, from the 1.75-mile Tickle Creek Trail, to neighborhood playgrounds, to the 127-acre Sandy River Park. All told, there are 19 parks within Sandy city limits.

City Council

The governing body for the City of Sandy is the City Council. The Council is composed of the Mayor and six City Council members. They are all elected at-large (i.e., by all city voters); the Mayor serves a two-year term and the Council members serve four-year terms, with half the Council positions elected in each even-numbered year November general election.

Finance

The Finance Department serves the public and internal customers by receipting and disbursing financial resources, accurate and timely recording of all financial activity, accounting for fixed assets, monitoring financial compliance with various federal, state, and local requirements and providing support to city departments in areas of financial management.

Building

The Building Division is responsible for guiding the City's structural, mechanical, and plumbing processes for the construction industry and the public. Building Division staff provide consultation, complete plan review, issue permits, and conduct inspection services. Sign installation approval is also overseen by the Building Division.

Administration

The Administration Department includes the City Manager, City Recorder, and portions of various support staff. In the council-manager form of government, the City Manager is appointed by the City Council to implement Council policies and manage the day to day operations of the City. This work includes overseeing all city departments and employees, managing the city budget as approved by the Council, working with elected officials and members of the community, and keeping the Council informed of City business.
