Utility Bill Breakdown

Typical Bill: The average customer in Sandy uses 700 cubic feet of water per month: about 5,200 gallons.  The figures you see below are for a typical Sandy utility customer who uses 700 cubic feet of water:

  • Water: the charge for 700 cubic feet of water usage is $78.65 ($21.46 base fee, plus $8.17 per hundred cubic feet use)
  • Public Safety Fee: Flat fee of $4.50 on all accounts.  Pays for two additional police officers.
  • StormwaterFlat fee of $10.00 on all accounts.  Supports the City’s stormwater infrastructure.
  • Sewer: Sewer consumption is calculated based on water consumption.  The sewer charge for 700 cubic feet of water usage is $98.08.  (Note: this example is a winter period bill— see the ‘Winter Average’ page for further information).

Late Fees: accounts that are 30 days past-due are assessed a $5 late fee; accounts 45 days past-due may incur a $50 utility shutoff fee if payment is not made before the shutoff deadline.
