Sandy River Park

Sandy River Park offers a natural outdoor experience right in the heart of town.  The former Douglas fir forest was sold to the City in December 2001, and at 127 acres it is one of the largest publicly-owned parcels of land adjacent to the wild and scenic Sandy River.

An October 2015 ribbon cutting officially opened the Jim Slagle Loop Trail.  This one mile natural-surface loop meanders through the woods to the west of the main trail.  On a ridge above the river, travel through a dense grove of cedars, round a bend and a surprise awaits.  Once back on the main trail, continue to the Sandy River and Cedar Creek.  Fall is a perfect time to watch salmon swim up Cedar Creek to spawn.
