Cedar Park

Cedar Park, Sandy's newest community park, is now open in the heart of downtown. The park features Base Camp Action Sports, offering over an acre of year-round hard-surfaced areas for skating and biking. A 1/4-mile concrete looped walking path connects Cedar Park to Sandy River Park and the Sandy River. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as a zip-line, climbing rock, hill-slide, spinning dome, swings, restrooms, a covered shelter and more.

Basecamp Features elements that are hazardous.  Below are Rules & Regulations Designed to help keep users and spectators safe. 
  1. Recreational Immunity: The State of Oregon Recreational Immunity Law (ORS 105) provides that a landowner is not liable for injury, death, or property damage that arises out of the use of land for recreational purposes. This law applies to the City of Sandy’s Basecamp Action Sports Park. All elements at Basecamp are designated for recreational use only. Any other use is prohibited and undertaken at your own risk.
  2. General Rules and Guidelines:
    • Ride at Your Own Risk: Basecamp is not supervised. Please ride responsibly. Serious injury may result from the use of these facilities. The City of Sandy is not liable for any injuries.
    • Behavior: Avoid reckless behavior, including tandem riding, pushing, horseplay, fighting, or bullying. Any activity that could jeopardize the safety of others is prohibited.
    • Oregon law requires bicycle riders, skateboarders, scooter riders, and in-line skaters under the age of 16 to wear a helmet on highways and property open to the public (ORS 814.485 and 814.600). All others are strongly encouraged to wear helmets for the safety of all riders.
    • Awareness: Stay alert to blind corners, steep hills, entrances/intersections, and obstacles. Follow all directional signage. Dismount if unsure.
    • Ride Within Your Abilities: Start with less challenging features and progress gradually.
    • Feature Use: Only one rider is permitted on a feature at a time. Use only the features provided. Additional obstacles or other materials, like ramps and jumps, may not be used at Basecamp.
    • Sidewalk & Pathway Etiquette: When outside of Basecamp elements, please dismount and walk.  Sidewalks and pathways are designated for pedestrians.  Bikes are allowed on the Cedar Creek Trail.
    • Respect: This facility is used by riders of all ages and abilities. Yield to less experienced riders and be courteous to all users and neighbors. Maintain respectful language and behavior. Keep music at a respectful volume. 
    • Bicycles with pegs are not permitted in the skatepark.
    • Supervision: Riders aged 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Graffiti Policy: This is your park. Please take care of it. The City of Sandy enforces a zero-tolerance policy for graffiti. Please be aware that surveillance is in place.
    • Alcohol, tobacco products (including vaping), drugs, and glass containers are not allowed at Cedar Park.
    • Weather Conditions: Do not use Basecamp elements during or immediately after adverse weather conditions, such as rain, snow, or ice, or when the surface is wet for any reason, as these can affect ramp and surface conditions.
    • RC cars are prohibited at Cedar Park.
    • Motorized Vehicles: Class 1 E-bikes are allowed only on the Jump Line and Pumptracks; their use is prohibited in all other areas of Cedar Park.  All other motorized vehicles (combustible & throttle) are prohibited inside Cedar Park.

Pedestrian and Spectator Safety

  1. Safety Precautions: For your safety, avoid entering Basecamp elements (Pumptrack, Skatepark, & Jump Line).
  2. Visibility: Do not stop in areas with limited visibility. Be cautious at intersections where walking paths and Basecamp elements converge.
  3. Spectating: Find a safe area off the trail to observe riders.
  4. Pets: Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pets.
  5. Waste Disposal: Dispose of all waste in designated recycling or waste receptacles.
