Originally from Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Kentucky, Andi moved to Oregon to pursue a Master's Degree in Sociology from Portland State University. Primarily focused on building a society in which each person has the ability to be their best self, she was an AmeriCorps volunteer during graduate school while working as a research assistant, teaching assistant and co-facilitator of a course on the use of focus groups in qualitative research.
Andi’s career background includes teaching as an adjunct professor at Clark College, working as a program coordinator for a family enrichment program, and a community resources research analyst for the state of Oregon. After moving to Sandy, Andi sought employment that would build her local community and became the Transit Assistant for the City. During her time as the Transit Assistant, she learned about the Sandy transit system and became entrenched in the love of public transportation for its use as a tool for the disenfranchised, an economic development driver and environmental friendliness. Andi became a Certified Community Transportation Manager, endorsed by the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) in 2014 and obtained the Transit Director position with the City a year later. As the Transit Director for Sandy, Andi oversees the Transit budget, grant applications, policies and procedures, Federal and State compliance, operation contracts and services, operational oversight of the Mount Hood Express service, travel training and other transit-related duties.
Andi lives just outside of Sandy with her husband, Jerry, and their three children. She enjoys running, yoga and playing on their small hobby farm that includes dogs, chickens, a horse, a goat, ducks, and a rabbit.
