Tickle Creek Park & Trail

The Tickle Creek Trail is approximately 1.8 miles of wooded, scenic trail in the heart of Sandy. It follows its namesake creek from the Barlow Ridge neighborhood (on Dubarko Road just west of Highway 211) downstream to the Tickle Creek neighborhood (just east of 362nd Avenue). It generally runs parallel to Dubarko Road (south of the road, except for a segment east of Reich Ct. extending east of Melissa Ave.). It includes five wooden bridges over Tickle Creek. Please see the map, below.

Sandy Skate Park

Bring your skateboard and spend a day carving it up at Sandy's very own skate park.

GENERAL INFO

The Oregon Trail School District (OTSD), committed to serving youth in the Sandy area, allowed the Sandy Skate Association to build a 10,000-square-foot skatepark near the southern end of the soccer field at Cedar Ridge Middle School (17165 Meinig Avenue). Local skaters and BMX riders designed the park to fit within the land area provided by the OTSD. The park opened in June of 2000. We are still raising money to pay for the projects outlined above.

THE MAJOR CASH DONORS

Sandy River Park

Sandy River Park offers a natural outdoor experience right in the heart of town.  The former Douglas fir forest was sold to the City in December 2001, and at 127 acres it is one of the largest publicly-owned parcels of land adjacent to the wild and scenic Sandy River.

Sandy Bluff Park & Dog Park

Summer Maintenance Schedule:

Our Parks Crew will be onsite conducting weekly maintenance on the Dog Park on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 11:00am

Meinig Memorial Park

This park is the crown jewel of Sandy's park system -- it has a permanent main stage and two permanent concession stands in the center of the park that are used for Sandy Summer Sounds, the City's free summer concert series, as well as an amphitheater at the south end.

A unique log gazebo is located in the heart of Meinig Memorial Park and available for families and groups to rent for weddings, reunions, and other gatherings. In addition to its location in a gorgeous setting, it features:

Jonsrud Viewpoint Park

Jonsrud Viewpoint, at 4.95 acres, is north of Highway 26 on Bluff Road and is a designated stop on the Oregon Scenic Byways program and is widely considered to be one of the best views of Mount Hood in Oregon. Stroll the brick pathways, look through the telescopes, and enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Hood and the Sandy River Valley as well as informational signs about the Barlow Road, part of the Oregon Trail.

Hamilton Ridge Park

Located on Sandy Heights west of Bluff Rd., there are two small park areas—one, ½ acre in size, includes a play structure. The other is smaller and is mainly present to preserve existing, mature trees. An accessible foot path connects Sandy Heights to approximately 7 acres of dedicated open space along Tickle Creek and extends to connect with Dubarko Rd.
