We Honor Our Veterans
The Sandy Senior Center, in partnership with Mt. Hood Hospice, will host a community Veterans Pinning ceremony for all generations. A Veteran pinning ceremony is a way to honor veterans and thank them for their service. "We honor Veterans" is a National program under the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. We aim to publicly acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by our local Veterans and their families. The ceremony gives an opportunity for each veteran to stand and receive a pin and star (from a retired flag) in recognition of the branch and war they served in. By doing so, a sense of meaning and purpose can be gained by the Veteran. Having a sense of meaning and purpose becomes more important at the end of life. We all want to know our life and work has added value.
