Jonsrud Viewpoint Park
Jonsrud Viewpoint, at 4.95 acres, is north of Highway 26 on Bluff Road and is a designated stop on the Oregon Scenic Byways program and is widely considered to be one of the best views of Mount Hood in Oregon. Stroll the brick pathways, look through the telescopes, and enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Hood and the Sandy River Valley as well as informational signs about the Barlow Road, part of the Oregon Trail.
In 2020, the City of Sandy and Clackamas County Tourism engaged in a restoration project at Jonsrud Viewpoint to provide general improvements for the park. One of the new amenities provided is a special color blind-adapted scenic viewer with new technology from Enchroma that enables people who are color blind (350 million worldwide) to experience the colors of nature. Jonsrud Viewpoint is the first location in the U.S. outside of the state of Tennessee to offer this experience to the color blind.
