Wastewater System Improvement Project Update
**September 2021**
The City has been making significant progress over the summer on our Wastewater System Improvement Project. Read below for some important updates on everything the City has been doing to modernize our infrastructure and protect the environment.
PROJECT WORK DETAILS:
Rehabilitation of the collection system (the pipes that take wastewater from your home to our treatment plant) in areas south of Hwy 26 between Langensand Road and Hwy 211 wrapped up, with all main line work finishing in August.
Surface restoration of street cuts have been completed and work on concrete restoration will start soon. This project will resume in areas west of Bluff Road and south of Hwy 26 in October, and will finish in November or December.
- If you live in a project area and have concerns about the way your landscaping or concrete was restored please let us know by emailing: pipes@ci.sandy.or.us.
PROJECT PARTNERS:
On August 19th the Clackamas River Basin Council held their monthly business meeting in Meinig Park and received an update on the collection system work taking place. The Council then took time to visit the existing wastewater treatment plant to observe the work underway to improve the plant capacity and treatment efficiency .
On September 8th, representatives from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) visited the plant site to review the construction work taking place. DEQ is the City's funding partner on both projects, and is providing more than $16 million in low-interest loans to finance this work. These low-interest loans allow the City do this critical infrastructure work in a way that minimizes the impact on rate payers.
