Wastewater System Facilities Plan
Our community has outgrown our decades-old wastewater system, and we have been mandated by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to improve our infrastructure.
The City of Sandy adopted a Wastewater System Facilities Plan in 2019 to to address these challenges. Given the current environment of inflationary pressures and rising construction prices, the City is working to revise the 2019 plan to keep costs manageable for the City and its rate payers while still fixing our system and protecting the environment.
A Facilities Plan is a document that:
- Reviews the existing condition of the wastewater collection and treatment systems
- Examines the impacts of existing and anticipated future Federal and State regulations
- Makes recommendations for improvements and new facilities required to accommodate population growth and comply with regulatory requirements
- Prepares cost estimates for necessary improvements and facilities
- Explores and ranks several alternatives to arrive at a solution that responds to regulatory, environmental and financial constraints.
The 2019 Wastewater System Facilities Plan can be found at the bottom of this page. The revised plan currently being developed by the City will be presented to the City Council for consideration and adoption at a public meeting in the future.
