Urban Forestry
Tree City USA
If you have noticed the abundance of beautiful trees in Sandy you will not be surprised that the City was recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation in 2005 as a Tree City USA. We are proud to promote the importance of our trees within the community. See the Tree City USA website for more information.
Building with Trees
The Building With Trees™ recognition program, presented by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with The National Association of Home Builders and Firewise Communities outlines tree protection practices and provides two opportunities for builders and developers to receive recognition for their efforts - one following the planning and design phase of a project, another following construction. For more information on building with trees view the Arbor Day Foundation website.
Arborist Reports
The City of Sandy hires a professional arborist to review public areas within city limits to review the overall health of our trees and to make recommendations on thinning and removal of potentially hazardous trees. You can review these public arborist reports.
Hiring an Arborist
As arborist is a specialist in the care of individual trees. Arborists are knowledgeable about the needs of trees, and are trained and equipped to provide proper care. Hiring an arborist is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Proper tree care is an investment that can lead to substantial returns. Use the International Society of Arboriculture link to locate a certified arborist.
Urban Forestry Regulations
The City of Sandy regulates tree removal and retention. See the urban forestry regulations portion of the Municipal Code for more information.
